I wish to change my car tyre size from 215/65R16 to 225/55R16. Is this okay?

Answer: When changing tyre sizes, it should remain the same height (outer diameter of the original tyre), or it should not exceed the original height by more than 3 per cent.

Anything more than that will not only compromise the braking efficiency, but it will also affect the accuracy of the speedometer beyond the accepted level.

A change from 215/65R16 to 225/55R16 is equivalent to a more than 4.5 per cent change in tyre height of the original tyre, which is not recommended.

When I restart my car after driving for some time, it will jerk heavily whenever I change gears from "P" to "R".
