MUMBAI, India (AP) -- Bollywood movie star Hrithik Roshan injured his knee while filming a battle scene for a historical movie, an Indian newspaper reported Thursday.

Doctors have advised Roshan to rest until the injury heals, his spokesman Ashok Vishodia told the Mumbai Mirror newspaper. Vishodia was not available for comment.

Roshan was shooting scenes last week near Mumbai for filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar's movie "Jodha Akbar," based on a romance between the 16th century Mugal emperor Akbar, played by Roshan, and a Hindu princess, Jodha Bai, played by Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai.

One of India's most popular actors, Roshan's previous roles include a smooth talking thief in "Dhoom 2" and a superhero who glides over water in "Krrish." Both films were huge hits.
