TWO passengers were killed while seven others, including the bus driver, were injured when a city bus plunged into the Johor Straits on Thursday morning.
All the victims are Malaysians.
The bus was negotiating a bend at Stulang Laut beach in Johor Baru when it swerved and overturned at about 8 am.
Johor Baharu Selatan Traffic Police Chief, DSP Ooi Kok Seng said the engine of the bus failed when it was descending Jalan Lingkaran Dalam.
He said it was fortunate that the tide was low when the bus landed on the beach.
The two killed were identified as Ms Kweh Mei Phing, 49, from Permas Jaya and Mr Esa Aman, 47, from Taman Perling.
DSP Ooi said the injured passengers managed to get out of the overturned bus with the help of passers-by.
