KUALA LUMPUR: The three men in a Perodua Kenari captured on a closed-circuit television camera surrendered to police hours after the images were aired on television.
The three friends turned up at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 11pm on Thursday and were released after having their statements recorded.
As investigations into Nurin Jazlin Jazimin's murder intensified, Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail has added pressure by demanding some answers from the police.
"There have been several arrests prominently highlighted in the media but after that, the suspects were freed. I want an explanation," Gani said.
"It creates a bad impression of the police and the system."
He was also confused over a statement allegedly made by a senior police officer that the Indonesian woman, the last suspect to be released earlier this week, was a material witness.
"I was told the woman had given false information. So, how is she linked to the case?
"Why is she now a material witness?" Gani asked.
"The public must be kept informed of what is going on. But, at the same time, I do not want them to be confused."
He was referring to the 23-year-old Indonesian woman who had caused a stir when she swallowed a SIM card.
She was released on Wed-nesday because of a lack of evidence after being remanded for two weeks. She has been handed to the Immigration Department as she is an illegal immigrant.
Gani said he had summoned senior police officers to give an explanation.
Meanwhile, the three men who surrendered are said to be a student and despatch riders in their 20s.
It is, however, not known if the woman, caught in the footage with the three, had also surrendered.
Federal CID director Datuk Christopher Wan confirmed the three men in the CCTV footage turned themselves in but declined to elaborate.
He would not say if police had picked up the woman, described as wearing a red top and seen in the vicinity where the sports bag, containing the body of Nurul, was found.
Footage also showed the woman getting into the Perodua Kenari with the three.
Police released the CCTV images on Thursday.
Another two-minute segment showed a man arriving at the scene on a Modenas Kriss motorcycle, making a call on a mobile phone before putting on his helmet again.
He was then seen taking a Diadora sports bag (the same brand name of the sports bag in which Nurin's body was found) into the building.
Police had earlier released photofits of a man and a woman whose help is sought in connection with this case.
The woman in the photofit is the same woman who was captured in the CCTV footage.
Four men and a woman were arrested by police in Shah Alam on Sept 28 to assist in the murder investigations.
The four men were remanded for seven days, while the woman was released the same day after having a statement recorded.
On Sept 29, the Indonesian woman was picked up in Nilai, Negri Sembilan. On Oct 1, the four men were released.
