Cabby fined for punching another
Wed, Jan 02, 2008
The Straits Times

A PART-TIME taxi driver punched a fellow cabby on the face after accusing him of cutting queue.

Quek Chin Chuan, 49, was jailed for a day and fined $1,000 on Wednesday for causing hurt to Mr Tan Teng Yin, 68, at the taxi stand of Budget Terminal, Changi Airport, on Dec 15, 2006.

A magistrate's court heard that Mr Tan parked his SMRT taxi at the roadway of Budget Terminal infront of two other cabs and went to the toilet.

When he came back, Quek, of Trans Cab, confronted him and asked why he had cut into the taxi queue.

As the confrontation heated up, Quek threw a punch on the victim's face, causing him to fall to the ground.

Quek claimed the victim was rude to him and had pointed his middle finger at him.
