TWO men were each sentenced to six months' jail on Monday for forging bogus children's charity tickets.

Sales executive Toh Hong Tat, 31, and car washer Png Tiong Leong, 34, admitted to conspiring to commit forgery, by getting Mr Leong Peng Kong, owner of a CMZY Design & Prints at Katong Shopping Centre at Mountbatten Road to print 6,000 tickets in the name of New Life Children's Charity in January last year.

Mr Leong did not know that it was a bogus charity.

The court heard that following the purchase of a $5 coupon by a Woodlands resident on May 13 last year, the victim's son made a check and found out that there was no such charity called New Life Children's Charity. Two cheating charges were taken into consideration.

Toh requested deferment of sentence until after the Chinese New Year.

His bail was increased by another $7,000 to $15,000 and he will begin his sentence on Feb 11.
