A MAN accused of causing grievous hurt to a three-year-old boy now faces a murder charge following the child's death last Friday.

Firdaus Abdullah, 26, was charged a week ago with punching Muhammad Izzul Salihin Muhammad Farzid forcefully on the back of his head and causing him to bleed in the brain at a flat in Jalan Minyak off Chin Swee Road on Jan 12.

Izzul was warded in KK Women's and Children's Hospital last Monday, the day he turned three, and died four days later.

The boy's mother is a friend of Firdaus. The grievous hurt charge is now upgraded to murder.
