Stray dogs' bodies found in Clementi

ALL three of its siblings were poisoned three years ago. Shiloh, as it is affectionately called by neighbourhood dog lovers, had escaped that fate then; but it looks like it may not have been so lucky this time around.

The partly decomposed bodies of two stray dogs - Shiloh and its puppy, Shelley - were found separately at the fringe of a forested area near Clementi Ave 3 on Wednesday at about 4pm by a dog lover who wanted to be known only as Mrs Koh.

The Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was called in, but the bodies were too badly decomposed to be sent for a post-mortem, said SPCA spokesman Deirdre Moss.

Shiloh was last seen alive on Monday looking very weak, and Shelley was last seen on Chinese New Year's Day, said Mrs Koh. Another dog - Blackie, one of Shiloh's offspring - is also missing.

Yet another one of the pack, Raja, had been loitering around the void decks without its family for the past two weeks, Mrs Koh said.

"It was actually crying and trying to tell us that its other family members were dead," said Mrs Koh. "I didn't know what it was trying to say then."

"I was told the town council had received a few complaints about it, and they had informed the National Environment Agency," said Mrs Koh. "I'm afraid it will be put to sleep."

She is appealing for people to adopt Raja. the SPCA is appealing for witnesses and information. It can be contacted at 6287 5355.
