JOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA: Police seized six four-wheel drive vehicles worth RM2mil (S$878,400) at a hypermarket parking lot and arrested a Singaporean, in his 40s.
The syndicate members would steal the vehicles in different states and store them at parking lots in hypermarkets to avoid suspicion before shipping them out through Tanjung Pelepas Port and Pasir Gudang port.
Acting on a tip off, Seri Alam police led by C/Insp Balie, raided the parking lot of a hypermarket in Seri Alam earlier this month and seized the vehicles.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Roslan Zainuddin told pressmen the syndicate was connected to the one involved in stealing 34 four-wheel drives last year.
?The syndicate would 'hide' the vehicles in plain sight and ship them out within 24 hours, he said adding that the man arrested had past records for car thefts in Singapore.
