KUALA LUMPUR, MALYSIA: A Form Three student and her boyfriend were arrested days after police found the bodies of a pair of newborn twins at a food stall in Sungei Besi.
The 16-year-old girl was released on bail while her boyfriend, said to be in his 20s, was remanded.
Both were also sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital to have samples of their DNA taken.
Police said the girl was believed to have concealed her pregnancy from her parents, before giving birth to twins in the toilet of her house in Selayang on Feb 18.
She was then believed to have given the twins to her boyfriend, who put them inside a plastic bag, which was left on a table at a food stall in Jalan Silang, Sungai Besi.
The owner of the stall found the plastic bag when he was about to open for business, about 4.30am the same day.
A task force, set up to investigate the case, arrested the girl at her house in Selayang on Wednesday and she led the police to her boyfriend.
Investigations revealed the male suspect stayed near the stalls where the bodies were found.
It is learnt that police also found a pair of blood-stained trousers in the girl's house, believed to be the one she was wearing before she gave birth.
District police chief ACP Ahmad Amir Mohd Hashim confirmed the arrests.
