KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: A man caused a commotion at a bank in Taman Sungai Besi yesterday when he jumped over a counter and grabbed RM5,000 from a drawer.

Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Amir Mohd Hashim said the 26-year-old man was apprehended on the spot by the bank's guard.

"The suspect, walked into the bank at 3.45pm and jumped over one of the counters. He then forced one of the drawers open and grabbed a wad of cash.

Clerks manning the counters were too stunned to react.

"Initial investigations revealed the unemployed suspect had a record of mental illness," he said.
