JOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA - Eight Filipinas, believed to be guest relations officers (GROs), were hauled up by police after a raid on an entertainment outlet.

The women, aged between 20 and 32, were detained for not having valid working permits and other offences.

A 38-year-old man, who works as an attendant, was also arrested during the 10.30pm raid at the outlet in Indahpura, Kulai, on Monday.

Kulai Jaya OCPD Supt Zulkefly Yahya said initial investigations revealed that the premises did not have a proper permit.

"They have been in operation for over one week.

"We believe the women were used as GROs. We will investigate further to check whether a syndicate is involved," he said.

Supt Zulkefly said police searched the premises after receiving a tip-off.

On another matter, police are still looking for the man responsible for raping a 17-year-old girl at a waterfall in Gunung Pulai on Saturday.

Supt Zulkefly said police had launched a manhunt.

He urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 07-2212999 or the nearest police station.
