KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Internal disciplinary action will be taken against the two policemen who were alleged to have molested, raped and robbed a 42-year-old Chinese woman in Jalan Pudu on April 1.

The 28-year-old constable and a 42-year-old lance corporal from the mobile patrol vehicles unit (MPV) of the Dang Wangi police headquarters have been relieved of field duties, City police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Muhammad Sabtu Osman said after attending a gotong-royong event at the Darul Falah Orphanage in conjunction with the 201st Police Day celebrations in Bukit Persekutuan here yesterday.

"The duo are now bound to desk duties pending investigations."

On April 1, the duo had allegedly detained the woman in a budget hotel where they had gone to investigate the death of her friend, also a Chinese national, who fell from her fifth floor room.

In her police report, she claimed that the policemen in uniform took her in a patrol car to a secluded spot nearby and attacked her.
