Wild party ends early for 35

MALACCA, MALAYSIA: Thirty-five people who took part in a wild party in a rented bungalow in Taman Orna, Jasin, on Sunday, were arrested here after testing positive for drugs.

State narcotics chief Supt Tio Kian Peng said 15 of them, including six foreigners, were university students.

"Six pills believed to be Ecstasy and syabu were also found on the premises," he said during a press conference at the Malacca police headquarters yesterday.

A police team led by chief inspector Zainal Murad from the Jasin Narcotics Department raided the bungalow at 5.45am after receiving a tip-off.

Supt Tio said 33 people, including nine women, were arrested after testing positive for drugs. Two others, believed to be the organisers, were also detained.

Those arrested were aged between 20 and 28.

Three more people, who tested negative, were released following questioning.

Those arrested were remanded for four days following an order by the Jasin magistrate?s court yesterday, Supt Tio said.

They are being investigated under Section 13(c) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for consuming drugs at residential premises.
