A WOMAN cleaner was nabbed after she sold heroin to an undercover officer in a sting operation carried out by the Cental Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on Wednesday.
The arrest of the 53-year-old trafficker swiftly led to four others - her associate, supplier and two traffickers - being caught in Chai Chee Road that same night, and the seizure of 252 grams of heroin, 2.2 grams of Ice and one Subutex tablet with a total street value of more than $47,800, and cash of $9,340.
CNB caught the woman trafficker at about 5.20 pm on Wednesday near Block 26, Chai Chee Avenue shortly after she hold sold heroin to an undercover agent. A white plastic bag which contained 1.5 grams of heroin was found on her.
The woman had previous drug and criminal records. If convicted, she faces a minimum jail term of five years.
In the follow-up operation, CNB officers arrested the supplier and his wife at the carpark of Block 22 Chai Chee Road at about 7.25 pm.
About 40 grams of heroin, which were hidden in the man's shirt and pants' pockets, and cash of $3,840, were seized. CNB officers also raided the couple's flat and found another .6 grams of heroin.
The supplier is aged 51 with drug records. His wife is aged 39 years, and also has drug and criminal records. Both were jobless.
Shortly after at about 7.30 pm on Wednesday, another party of CNB officers arrested a 50-year-old man near Block 25 Chai Chee Road.
The man is an associate of the woman cleaner and works as a contractor.
The fifth trafficker to be netted was a 43-year-old man. He was caught at about 9.30 pm that night in Lorong 30 Geylang Road. Found on him were 40 grams of heroin.
Further searches by CNB officers recovered various drugs and drug paraphernalia which were cunningly concealed in different parts of the man's home, including 24.8 grams of heroin which were found in the battery compartment of a mini portable DVD player and 51.5 grams of heroin on the parapet outside the window.
Approximately 168 grams of heroin, 2.2 grams of 'Ice', 1 Subutex tablet, various drug paraphernalia as well as cash, suspected to be drug proceeds amounting to $5,500.
If convicted, the suspects face at least five years in jail each.
