KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: A 28-year-old housewife was found dead with her throat slit and mouth gagged with a towel in her house in Kampung Tasik Permai, Ampang.

K. Kayavili, whose hands were also tied with a string, was found slumped in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor by her husband who returned home from work at about 4.15pm yesterday.

Ampang deputy OCPD Supt Amiruddin Jamaluddin said Kayavili was believed to have been murdered at least six hours earlier.

"We believe that Kayavili's throat was slit with a sharp object based on the injuries she had sustained," he said, adding that no murder weapon was recovered from the scene.

Supt Amiruddin said Kayavili's two children, aged eight and 18 months, were in the house and unharmed.

"We believe that the motive was robbery as the house was ransacked," he said, adding that there were no traces of a forced entry. Kayavili's body was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem.
