>SHAH ALAM, MALAYSIA: The handwritten notes and memos found in Altantuya Shaariibuu's bag were only given to the senior investigating officer a week after the trial began last year.

Witness ASP Tonny Lunggan told the High Court yesterday that these notes and memos with a Hotel Malaya header were given to him by Altantuya's father, Setev Shaariibuu on June 25.

The trial began on June 18.

"Setev Shaariibuu told me the notes were given to him by Amy (Burmaa Oyuchimeg, Altantuya's cousin) who had found them in the victim's bag," he said during examination-in-chief by DPP Manoj Kurup.

"The next day, I sent the items to the Chemistry Department for handwriting analysis."
He said the report of the analysis and the exhibits were returned to him on June 28.

Tonny was testifying at the trial of Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 32, and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 37, both members of the Special Action Squad, who are charged with murdering Altantuya, 28, in Bukit Raja between 10pm on Oct 19 and 11am on Oct 20, 2006.

Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, 48, is charged with abetting them.

The witness also said that on May 25 last year, he went to Hotel Malaya to view their closed-circuit-television system with Supt Amidon Anan, the Crime Scene Investigation head at Bukit Aman.

"There were three CCTV tapes but we only viewed the one which contained images of the first and second accused persons (Azilah and Sirul)."

"Supt Amidon had also analysed the images and compared them with mug shots of Azilah and Sirul taken when they were arrested," said Tonny.

He said they did not view the other two tapes which contained images of Altantuya and her friends.

After the analysis, Tonny said he sealed the tapes in envelopes.

Trial before judge Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yasin continues on Monday.
