A 36-YEAR-OLD man charged earlier with threatening to kidnap his girlfriend's son has been accused of more charges of causing hurt to the victim.

Chia Chiew Boon is alleged to have threatened to kidnap the 33-year-old woman's son and sell him in Malaysia to be a beggar.

He is also said to have cruelly beaten the victim's dog.

All the alleged offences took place at a house in Yio Chu Kang on April 19.

On Friday, Chia was further charged with slapping and kicking his girlfriend and sending her text messages that he would kill her.

His lawyer sought an adjournment to make representations. He told District Judge John Ng that the couple had reconciled.

Chia's $10,000 bail was extended. A pre-trial conference will be held on June 12.
