A PUB lincensee was fined $2,000 on Tuesday for breaching a condition of the nightclub licence.
Alan Seah Chang Wei, 44, a creative director of MediaCorp, was the licensee of Happy Bar & Club which provided public entertainment beyond the hours stated in the licence on Aug 8, 2005.
He had allowed the public entertainment to continue till about 4.20am in his Tanjong Pagar Road nightclub.
A magistrate's court heard that a party of police officers went to the club where a fight had broken out that morning.
They found a few customers inside.
At the time of the incident, Seah was issued with a public entertainment licence which allowed him to operate from 5pm to 3am.
A second charge was taken into consideration.
His lawyer told the court that a skirmish broke out at around 3am involving a small group of patrons who broke and damaged bottles and a glass display shelf.
He said the pub stayed open past closing time because two cleaners were clearing up the mess in the premises.
Seah could have been fined up to $10,000 for the offence.
