TWO men believed to be involved in a series of robberies at convenience stores in the eastern part of Singapore have been arrested.
One suspect was nabbed at Serangoon Avenue 4 at about 11.15pm on Thursday, while the second was caught at Yishun Street 22 at about 6.45 am on Friday.
Between May 20 and 26, three robberies were reported at convenience stores at Tampines, East Coast and Changi.
Each time, a suspect would confront the cashiers with his face covered with a cloth and armed with a knife or sharp metal objects. His accomplice would remain outside the stores to act as look-out.
In all, they got away with cash cards and cigarettes worth more than $2,500.
The suspects, aged 27 and 30, will be charged in court on Saturday morning for armed robbery, which carries five years jail and 12 strokes of the cane, if convicted.
