A LORRY driver was charged on Wednesday with causing the death of an elderly man at a pedestrian crossing in Bedok about a year ago.

Yeo Siak Thiam, 54, is accused of failing to keep a proper lookout when he moved off at the crossing, causing his vehicle to collide into Mr Ngiam Seng Suan who was pulling his loaded trolley at the Bedok North Avenue 1 and Bedok North Drive junction on May 30.

The 70-year-old died later in hospital.

Bail of $10,000 was set.

The case is fixed for a pre-trial hearing on July 11.
