Thu, Jun 19, 2008
The Straits Times

A 39-YEAR-OLD man who has been stealing cash cards from motorcycles parked at Grange Road open car park beside Orchard Building was caught on Tuesday.

Plain clothes officers from Orchard Neighbourhood Police Centre were patrolling along Orchard Road when they spotted a Malay man behaving suspiciously.

They kept watch and saw him meddling with the IU units of the motorcycles and then walking back to his vehicle.

The cops stopped him and found four cash cards on him.

The suspect will be charged in court on Thursday for theft. If convicted, he can be jailed up to three years and fined.

Acting Commander of Tanglin Police Division, Superintendent Cheong Chee Ming, reminded motorcyclists and drivers to remove their cash cards from their vehicles' IUs and not to leave their valuables such as handphone or laptop unattended in their vehicles.
