A man who hit a taxi driver on his left eye after being rebuked for messing up the vehicle was jailed for two weeks on Tuesday.

Mohammad Daud Abdul Karim, 22, and his three women friends had hailed the cab along Pasir Panjang Road at about 1.20am on March 1.

While seated beside cabby Lee Choon Heong, 54, the warehouse assistant threw up inside the taxi.

Mr Lee then scolded him for making a mess on the floor mat.

Daud then punched the victim's left eye.

Mr Lee stopped his taxi along the road and called the police.

Daud, who pleaded guilty, has a previous conviction for unlawful assembly with a deadly weapon.

He could have been fined up to $5,000 and/or jailed for up to two years.
