JOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA - A gang of robbers nicknamed the KFC Gang and believed to be responsible for robbing seven fast-food outlets here, has been busted.
The six robbers, aged between 19 and 31, were believed to have robbed the outlets of cash since March this year.
Police arrested all six at houses in Taman Sri Skudai and Kangkar Pulai on Friday.
Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the case was classified under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
'We have detained the suspects to facilitate investigations.
'We have solved at least seven such cases but have not ruled out the possibility that they may have been involved in more robberies,' he said.
In an unrelated matter, police recovered a lorry that was hijacked along the North-South Expressway on June 17. The lorry, which was carrying 155 tyres, was found at a factory in Kampung Sungai Tiram on Friday.
DCP Mohd Mokhtar said police also detained four foreignersin connection with the case.
