MUAR: A 2-year-old toddler is the only eyewitness to the murder of his 24-year-old mother on the doorstep of their double-storey terrace house in Taman Sri Jeram 3, at Batu 3 Jalan Bakri here, at noon yesterday.

The boy was found crying next to the body of his mother. The police team had rushed to the house after receiving a call from the boy's father at 2.40pm.

Muar Criminal Investigation department chief Deputy Superintendent Khoo Leng Huat said police found the body of the woman in a pool of blood in the house.

He said Choo Lee Fong, 24, had two stab wounds on her chest and three on the abdomen. "We have classified the case as murder and will look at all angles."

Police have yet to determine whether any valuables in the house had been stolen.

Meanwhile, Choo's husband, hawker Teo Wah Tong, 34, said his wife helped him in his business of selling an assortment of household goods from their van.

He said when he returned at 2pm, the front door was ajar and he found his wife lying on the doorstep in a pool of blood. His son was crying by her side.
