PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA: A policeman was charged at the Sessions Court yesterday with raping and forcing a 17-year-old to perform oral sex on him at the Putra Heights police station, Subang Jaya, on June 18.

Constable Jamil Abdul Sah, 27, who claimed trial to both offences, was released on bail of RM15,000 in one surety.

Judge Balqis Aini Mohd Ali ordered him to surrender his passport and set Oct 22 for trial.

She also ordered him, his friends and agents not to contact or disturb the victim.

Jamil was charged with raping the girl at the information room of the police station between 6am and 7am that day.
He is alleged to have forced the victim to perform oral sex on him at the same place and time.

Assistant public prosecutor Nor Shamsinar Mohamad had earlier objected to bail.

"The victim is a student while the accused is a police officer. There might be a possibility of the victim being disturbed and also tampering of evidence," she said.

Jamil's counsel Ariff Azami Hussein, however, asked for bail as the accused was a father of two children aged 5 and 2.

"There is no possibility of tampering as the accused is currently suspended from carrying out his duty as a policeman. He is also required to report to the Subang Jaya district police headquarters every Monday and Thursday."

He added that both the victim and the accused were living in different areas, Puchong and Damansara respectively.

"If there is any case of the victim being disturbed, the prosecution can always revoke his bail," he said.

Counsel Gobind Singh Deo, who was holding a watching brief for the victim's family, agreed with the prosecution that Jamil should be denied bail. He said the victim had told police in a report on June 22 that the accused had threatened her several times during the incident.
