JOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA - A teenager who allegedly blackmailed a 14-year-old girl into having sex with him is believed to be on the run and hiding in Singapore.
The 19-year-old was said to be working at a restaurant there since last month.
Johor MCA Public Services and Complaints Bureau deputy chief Rodney Soon said he had passed the youth's photo and other information to the police.
"If you did not do it, come out and clear your name," was Soon's message to the youth during a press conference here yesterday.
A police source said they have to check with the Immigration Department to confirm if the youth has left the country.
"If he had, we will seek the help from our Singapore counterparts," said the source.
On Tuesday, a father approached Soon to help locate the "culprit" who made his daughter pregnant.
The daughter claimed that she was forced into having sex with the youth whom she had befriended via SMS.
She said the youth molested and took nude photos of her on their first date. Then he threatened to put the pictures on the Internet unless she agreed to have sex regularly.
The youth went missing ever since she became pregnant some three months ago.
Soon urged those who know the whereabouts of the alleged culprit to call him at 019-771 3912 or the Johor police hotline at 07-221 2999.
