JOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA: A businessman is in critical condition after being shot in his back during a robbery at his home on Friday.

The incident occurred at around 8.30pm in Kulaijaya when the businessman, in his 30s, was at home with his family.

Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm (II) Amer Awal said the victim, believed to be a used car dealer, had come out of his house when he heard sounds outside.

"When he saw two men come in with a pistol, he ran back into the house. He was shot at the right hand side of his back," he said.

SAC Amer said the robbers then proceeded to ransack the house and stole money, watches and jewellery.

Losses were estimated at about RM25,000.

SAC Amer added that the robbers escaped within 30 minutes and the victim was sent to the Kulaijaya Hospital before being transferred to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here.

"We are looking for two men, one thin and the other plump, who are in their 30s. We believe they drive a black MyVi car," he said.

He also said police had launched a manhunt and set up roadblocks in the area.
