SEREMBAN, MALAYSIA: A lovers' tiff between a woman and a man half her age ended in tragedy when the man slashed the woman with an axe at a terrace house at Kelab Tuanku, Mambau here, yesterday morning.

In the 12.15am incident, the 43-year-old woman, who suffered injuries to her neck and head, died at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital at 6pm yesterday while her 12-year-old daughter suffered bruises.

However, the police managed to track down and arrest the assailant less than two hours from the time of the incident.

"The incident began as a quarrel, and went bad when the suspect reached for an axe and slashed the victim a few times before running off with some money and jewellery.

"The police team managed to track the suspect at 2am about a few metres from the victim's house and recovered the weapon as well as the money and jewellery.

"The suspect, an odd job worker, will be charged under Section 302 for murder."
