A 47-YEAR-OLD man who had sex with a mentally retarded teenage girl in broad daylight was jailed for four years on Tuesday.

Gansean Rengasamy was initially accused of raping the 15-year-old but acquitted after a High Court judge found there was insufficient evidence to prove that the sex was not consensual.

During the trial earlier this year, the teen said that she shouted and hit Gansean as he dragged her into the stairwell of an HDB housing block in Jurong.
