Instead, the 23-year-old man, who calls himself "ustaz", took advantage of his stay with the couple by raping their 15-year-old daughter twice.

Mohd Faizal Zakaria was arrested and claimed trial to two counts of raping the girl in a flat in Jalan Semarak here at 2pm on June 26 and at 2.30pm on July 4 last year.

He pleaded guilty yesterday.

Sessions Court judge Fathiyah Idris sentenced Faizal, of Kg Kelong, Tumpat, Kelantan, to seven years' jail and three strokes of the rotan for each charge. The sentences are to run concurrently.
According to facts, the girl rejected Faizal's advances on the first occasion and ran into her brother's room, where Faizal overpowered and raped her.

The second time, Faizal raped her in her room after she had taken a bath.

She told her parents of the incident on the same day and a police report was lodged. Faizal was arrested the next day in their home.

Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Muttaqin Rabbani Abdullah submitted that the girl was in the safest possible place, her home, when she was raped.

"The home is supposed to be the safest place. In this case, he broke the trust given to him and raped the girl.

"He also committed these acts while staying there on the pretext of treating her parents," he said.

Mohd Faizal was represented by counsel Zambri Ibrahim.
