Girl in Yishun murders attends mum's funeral

A TEENAGE girl hospitalised for the past two weeks after being stabbed and slashed repeatedly emerged from the hospital for the first time yesterday for the grim task of sending off her murdered mother.

Seated in a wheelchair and wearing sunglasses, a surgical mask and a scarf, she watched as family and friends said their final farewells to Ms Yang Jie.

As her relatives broke down, the girl - who had been called strong - remained stoic during the half-hour-long Buddhist funeral service. Her composure only broke when her mother's coffin was wheeled into the furnace.
