KAJANG, MALAYSIA: Police arrested eight people, including a man who use a gadget to locate laptops and handphones kept in vehicles.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Shakaruddin Che Mood said officers from its crime prevention unit went into action on Friday after receiving tip-offs from the public.

They first arrested a couple near a petrol station along Jalan Semenyih at 11.20am and recovered two laptops, a stolen motorcycle and three handphones.

The next raid was at a house in Kajang Perdana where a man who had 12 handphones, four laptops and a gadget that can detect electronic devices was detained.

It is believed the gadget works by detecting small amounts of electricity between an electronic equipment and its battery.

The gadget can tell if there is a laptop or handphone by swiping the detector near a vehicle.

Another house was raided in Ara Jaya where police arrested four men and a woman believed to be involved in several house break-ins.

ACP Shakaruddin said the suspects are aged between 20 and 40.
