JOHOR BARU, Malaysia: A 21-year-old part-time cashier was slashed to death when about 10 men stormed into a cybercafe and attacked customers in Taman Setia Indah here yesterday.

Chia Kok Wei, who was slashed more than 10 times, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

"My grandson was at the counter at the time and did not manage to escape," said Chia's grandfather, in his 60s, at the mortuary of Sultanah Aminah Hospital here.

He said Chia had worked at the cybercafe for two months and had a full-time job at an electronics factory in Singapore.

It is learnt that two customers had been warded for injuries.
