BANTING, MALAYSIA: Four teenagers, including a 17-year-old wanted by police in connection with a robbery case in Kelana Jaya, were among six people arrested by Kuala Langat police after a 30km, high-speed car chase.
Police found out that the oldest among the group was 25, and that there were three 19-year-olds.
A further surprise was in store when police discovered that the only female member of the group, a 21-year-old, was the wife of the 25-year-old.
Police here believe the group had been involved in at least seven robberies in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Negri Sembilan.
One of the six is also wanted for a robbery at a house in Bukit Permai in Ampang Jaya. A 25-year-old victim was taken from there to Seri Kembangan and raped.
Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Mohamad Radzi Ishak told a press conference here yesterday that the six robbed a man of his brown Proton Iswara in Batu Caves early on Thursday morning and drove it to Banting with the original number plates still on.
They chanced upon two women factory workers waiting for a bus along Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad here at 7.15am and two men with knives got out and robbed them of their belongings including cash and jewellery.
At 7.30am, police issuing traffic summonses along Jalan Teluk Datuk spotted the stolen car heading to??wards Klang and gave chase, Supt Mohamad Radzi said.
Two other police cars joined in the chase which ended when police forced the driver to a stop near Telok Gadong, but not before a police car was forced onto the opposite lane and scraping an oncoming car, resulting in a policeman being injured.
The six have been remanded for seven days.
Police seized a baton, three long knives, a metal rod, several gold chains and a ring, 16 cartons and 83 loose packs of cigarettes, a laptop computer and several mobile phones from the car.
