KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Police are on the lookout for a group of robbers nicknamed "Gang Tong Gas" (Gas Cylin- der Gang) who use cooking gas cylinders to break into locked rooms.

Ampang police chief Asst Comm Abd Jalil Hassan said the three members of the gang, who mostly target homes in the Ampang area, are believed to be foreigners.

Yesterday, the gang struck again, breaking into a double-storey bungalow in Jalan Bukit Mewah, Bukit Antarabangsa, at 6am.

The men tied up a businesswoman in her 50s and her 18-year-old son with cellphone charger cables before ransacking the house.

They escaped with jewellery worth RM100,000(S$42 370).

The unharmed victims managed to untie themselves after the robbers had left and called the police.

ACP Abd Jalil advised residents to switch on the lights at the back and front of their houses as a deterrent to burglars.
