PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA: A beauty consultant was sexually assaulted by a bomoh after she went to him seeking treatment for 'disturbances'.

The man allegedly groped her private parts and inserted prayer beads into her vagina, according to sources.

The 33-year-old mother of four had gone to the bomoh with her husband and a relative after she claimed she was 'possessed' on Nov 13 while at work.

She had started screaming loudly while attending to a customer.

After the incident, she was advised by friends and relatives to consult a bomoh when she continued to behave strangely, staring blankly into space and had difficulty sleeping.

Sources said the woman went to see the bomoh in Kuang two days after the incident.

The woman was ushered into a room where she was told to remove her clothes and was clad only in a piece of yellow and black cloth.

The bomoh told her husband and relative to buy incense sticks for the ritual, said the sources.

They were quite reluctant to leave the woman but did so after the bomoh convinced them that he had run out of incense sticks and that they were crucial in performing the ritual.

After they left, the bomoh was said to have recited some chants which purportedly sent the woman into a semi-conscious state.

He groped her breasts and private parts before inserting prayer beads into her vagina. Her husband and relative did not suspect anything amiss as the woman appeared to be her normal self.

After further chantings, the bomoh gave the woman a bottle of water and an amulet. The three left shortly after.

A day after the incident, sources said the woman began to feel some pain in her private parts and told her husband about it.

They then confronted the bomoh who insisted that what he did was a normal procedure and was part of a cleansing ritual.

A police report was lodged at the Gombak police headquarters on Nov 16 and the 44-year-old bomoh was picked up from his place at Kampung Melayu Sri Kundang,

The suspect has been remanded for seven days from Nov 19.
