ALOR STAR, MALAYSIA: A 69-year-old's plan to play belangkas (a dice game) the day before his wedding was curtailed when police raided a hut in Kampong Kubang Chenor, near here on Sunday.

Among the nine detained in the 5am raid were his two best men, while at least 21 others are believed to have escaped.

The grandfather was to have his marriage solemnised to his 46-year-old fiancee in Perlis yesterday. Instead, he has been remanded pending being charged.

Deputy Kubang Pasu police chief Deputy Superintendent Ibrahim Mohd Yusof said 15 motorcycles and four cars were seized. Police were working with the Road Transport Department to track the men down.
