JOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA: Seven people have been detained in connection with the death of a 30-year-old man who fell to his death from the ninth floor apartment of a condominium in Permas Jaya.

Police also seized a 9mm pistol loaded with 10 bullets, a Rambo knife, three packets of drugs and a Proton Waja that was reported stolen on Dec 6 in Permas Jaya.

The victim, Tee Soon Kiat, was found dead near the swimming pool on the ground floor at about 6pm on Sunday.

Acting Johor CID chief Asst Comm Che Yusoff Che Ngah said the suspects, four men and three women aged between 17 and 28, were rounded up in multiple raids in the city within four hours of the incident.

"Initial investigations revealed that the victim and his friends were attacked by a gang at the apartment. He fell while attempting to escape," he added.

Police believe the suspects are part of a drug trafficking gang that is also involved in vehicle theft.

"We are investigating the motive for the murder," ACP Che Yusoff said. He urged any one with information to contact the police hotline at 07-2212999 or the nearest police station.
