Schoolteacher claims trial to raping student

JOHOR BARU, Malaysia: A secondary school teacher claimed trail at the Sessions Court here for allegedly raping his 15-year-old student.

The teacher Abdul Halid Anang, 45, was charged under Section 376 of the Penal Code for raping the girl in his car in Bandar Indahpura, Kulai on May 24 last year.

The 2.30pm incident allegedly took place when the teacher was driving the student home that day.

The offence carries a maximum of 20 years of jail term or strokes of the rotan.

The student lodged a report at the Kulai police station a few months later after she found out she was pregnant. -The Star / Asia News Network

Judge Aliman Musri set bail at RM7,000 ($2,900) and fixed Sept 1 and 2 next year for the trial.
