KOTA KINABALU: Fifteen couples are in hot water after they were detained by the religious authorities for being involved in immoral activities during the New Year in the city and nearby districts.

Sabah Religious Affairs Department assistant director Awang Syairin Awang Bakar said those detained were all unmarried Muslims.

He said the 30 people were held after they were found together in a room and in several lodges here.

The couples were subsequently released.

They have been ordered to report to the department's office over the next few days. -The Star/Asia News Network
