A HOUSE owner in his 60s lost more than $4,400 in cash and valuables after his flat in Tampines was broken into.

The retiree secured his flat at Block 353, Tampines Street 33, on Dec 21 evening and left. When he returned five days later on Boxing Day, he found the glass window panel facing the corridor slightly ajar and the lock attached to the window grille gone.

On entering the flat, he discovered the rooms ransacked and the cupboard drawers in the master bedroom forced open.
