GEORGE TOWN, MALAYSIA: Eight stray dogs were found dead in the Teluk Bahang area in the past week. A post-mortem on the carcasses showed the dogs died of poisoning.

State Health, Welfare and Caring Society Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said more dogs were dying in the past few days.

"We have sent the carcasses to the Veterinary Department for checks.

"Many dogs have died mysteriously recently but the owners threw away the carcasses or buried them," he said, adding that he was waiting for the Veterinary Department's report before deciding on the next course of action.
