Thu, Feb 05, 2009
The New Straits Times
>His action, however, resulted in him having to pay a fine of RM1,500 at the Sessions Court yesterday.

Judge Rosbiahanin Arifin also sentenced him to one day's imprisonment.

Ng Chee Seong, 29, was charged with giving RM150 to Constable Mohd Nasir Abu Mansor as an inducement for not taking action against him for drink driving at Jalan Hang Tuah about 3.30am on Sept 4, 2006. He pleaded guilty.

Ng was stopped by Mohd Nasir who asked him to produce his identification card, driving licence and undergo an breath analyser test.

After he was found positive for alcohol, Nasir told Ng that he would be taken to a police station.

This was when Ng took out RM50 from his pocket and offered it to Nasir but the latter warned him, saying that it was wrong to bribe a civil servant.

Ng then took out another RM50 and Nasir again warned him.

Ng took out a third RM50 note making a total of RM150.

Nasir again warned him but Ng insisted he should take the money.

Nasir then took the money from Ng and arrested him.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) deputy public prosecutor Iznina Hanim Hashim prosecuted while Ng was unrepresented.
