>Three people were injured when attacked by two women and four men who barged into their Geylang hostel.
Lianhe Wanbao reader Mr Deng informed the Chinese daily that he saw many police officers stationed around a four-storey hostel at Geylang Lorong 26 around 9pm last night.
When Wanbao reporters visited the crime scene, neighbours said that they had heard loud shouting outside their hostel. Looking out of their windows, they saw two Vietnamese women and four burly men rushing into the hostel.
A foreign worker who wished to remain anonymous said that on hearing the commotion, four to five men rushed out from the hostel and the two parties started exchanging blows in the courtyard.
The men with the two Vietnamese women were beaten at first, and ran away.
After running about 10 metres, they found some sticks nearby. Wielding the one-metre long sticks, they returned to the hostel and mounted a vicious attack on the men they fought - and some even unveiled knives.
The two Vietnamese women were shocked, and tried to restrain the men, but the men ignored their pleas. By the time they stopped, three of the men they attacked had suffered serious injuries and blood stained the ground.
When they realised the extent of the damage they had inflicted, the men left in a hurry.
Witnesses at the scene told Wanbao that they saw the six attackers come to the hostel earlier at 5am in the morning, but they could not enter as the main gate was locked.
They speculated that the revenge attack could have been because the men slept with the Vietnamese women without paying them.
Police say the injured parties include a 40-year-old man and two men in their twenties. They have cordoned off the area and are investigating the incident.
