Ismil Kadar, 40, and Muhammad Kadar, 33, both Singaporeans, were given the mandatory death sentence for the May 2005 murder of the 69-year-old woman even though a trial failed to established who slashed and stabbed her 110 times.

Justice Woo Bih Li said he could not determine who was the assailant but under the law both men were liable for murder, according to the Straits Times. The death penalty, which is carried out by hanging, is mandatory for murder and some other crimes including trafficking certain amounts of drugs.
