Mechanic on sex charge denied bail

KUANTAN, MALAYSIA: A Sessions Court judge here yesterday denied bail to a mechanic who was accused of sexually abusing his wife, including sodomising her.

Judge Hassan Ghani, in fixing hearing on Aug 3, said the accused should remain in prison until then for fear that he would continue abusing his 33-year-old wife since they lived under the same roof.

He said there was also concern about the couple's 8-year-old daughter if the husband was let free while awaiting trial.

The 34-year-old was charged with two counts of committing sexual violence and injuring his wife at their marital home in Taman Kampung Padang Jaya here on April 19.
