PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA: Police nabbed a car thief at a workshop in Seri Kembangan near here after he used the place to "strip off"car parts.

The 48-year-old man was arrested when police raided the workshop at 3am. He was found hiding behind one of many stolen cars in the premises.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Zainal Rashid Abu Bakar said the thief had been using the premises as a place to strip stolen vehicles for the past five months.

"We sent a team there because a neighbour complained about loud noises coming from the workshop during the early hours of the morning,"he said.

Police, he said, found parts of two Perodua Kembaras, two Proton Iswaras, and a Perodua Rusa at the workshop.

ACP Zainal confirmed that some of the vehicles had been reported stolen since 2006 in the Klang Valley.

The vehicle parts in the workshop are estimated to be worth around RM100,000 ($41,990).
