KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: A taxi driver who pleaded not guilty to raping his underaged girlfriend has been ordered to report to the nearest police station every first Monday of the month until the case is over.

Nasir Yunus, 47, is alleged to have raped the 13-year-old student at Wellvest International Youth Hostel in Jalan Merpati between 2pm and 3pm on Feb 3.

Sessions Court judge Fathiyah Idris, who granted Nasir bail of RM5,000 ($2,080), also ordered him not to disturb the girl and her family.

Prosecuting officer DPP Fazril Sani Mohamed Fadzil had earlier asked the court to set Nasir's bail at RM20,000 in one surety and for the accused not to disturb the victim.

If convicted, he could be jailed up to 20 years and whipped under Section 376 of the Penal Code.

The girl had lodged a police report on April 5.

Earlier, in pleading for lower bail, Nasir' s stepbrother from Terengganu said he just had RM5,000 on him.

Fathiyah then asked the stepbrother to supply the court with the address of his workplace in case Nasir, from Subang Bestari, failed to follow the bail conditions.

She set June 15 for mention pending appointment of a lawyer for Nasir.
