KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: Just because they did not take an afternoon nap, two girls were allegedly beaten with clothes hangers, forced to lick a toilet bowl and drink her urine by their stepmother.
For that, the 41-year-old woman was arrested at her flat in Desa Aman Puri, Kepong, last Friday.
The incident was alleged to have taken place earlier that day. Unable to withstand the torment, the two girls, aged 6 and 9, ran to a neighbouring unit and approached a kindergarten teacher who lived there.
"Both the girls had bruises all over their body and on their faces as well," a police source said.
The two girls told the neighbour that their stepmother had flown into a rage when they failed to take their afternoon nap.
Sickened by the girls' tale of woe and misery, the kindergarten teacher immediately took both of them to the Desa Jaya police station and helped them lodge a report.
Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rahim Abdullah said the stepmother was picked up on Friday night and remanded for several days.
A source said police discovered two broken clothes hangers at the victims' home.
Both girls have been sent to Selayang Hospital where they are being treated for various injuries.
They are also undergoing counselling sessions. The Welfare Department is expected to take care of both girls once they are discharged. -NST
